Week 8 Day 55: Not Alone
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1
Ponder: Jesus did not leave us alone. As His children He left us a tremendous and wonderful gift; the Holy Spirit:
"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—" John 14: 16 Amplified Bible
Action: Spend time thinking about each of the attributes mentioned in the verse. Thanking Jesus, for each one of them. Ask Jesus to show you how each of these qualities can make a difference in your every day walk and life with Him. You have a comforter, a helper, someone, who prays for you continuously, someone who gives you daily strength, and someone, who is always there for you. Think about how this can impact your struggles; the burden and heaviness of always having to "carry" your life -controlling issue. It is about "Immanuel" "God with us." It is about never having to be really alone, even when we "feel" humanly alone.
Psalm 139: 7-12 The Message
Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you’re there! If I go underground, you’re there! If I flew on morning’s wings to the far western horizon, You’d find me in a minute— you’re already there waiting! Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark! At night I’m immersed in the light!” It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you.
Prayer: Holy and worthy is Your name. I thank You for a new day in You. Jesus ...
(stop to voice your own prayers).
I sometimes feel alone, isolated, and have a deep desire for companionship. Human companionship cannot replace Your love, Your presence, Your faithfulness. Human community is a beautiful gift from You but there are times when I simply need to remember that You are there and longing to meet with me. Please protect me from my own fleshly desires, the impact of the broken, sinful world around me and the arrows of the evil one.
(pray your own prayers for today)
In Your Name, Amen.
Challenge: The courage to be consistent, to be an over-comer in your walk with God. It is a battle, but God is with each one of as as we continually turn to Him and lay down our own ways and desires. Choose one thing to begin to implement in your life today that will draw you closer to God.
