Week 8: Day 51: A Shower of Kindness
Updated: Feb 28
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1
"He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding."
Ephesians 1:7-8 N.L.T.
One of my favorite showers is a rain shower at a spa on Gran Canaria. It is amazing. There is refreshment, and a very gentle massage; I feel so clean and relaxed. God has showered His grace and kindness on us. In another translation it says, "lavished" His grace and mercy on us. This is what we have as His children.
Imagine gift upon gift! Just for you!
Action: When someone gives us a gift we do open it and receive it. We say thank you! Sometimes it is difficult to receive what God gives us! Sit with Him today and thank Him for His kindness, His grace, and for purchasing your freedom with the blood of His Son. Thank Him for forgiving your sins, and giving you the gift of wisdom and understanding. Ask Abba, your Father, for help to unpack these gifts; to understand what they mean, and to make each of these "gifts" impact every day of your life.
Prayer: Father, I sometimes don't know how to open the gifts you give me. Especially Your love as my Abba, Father! Help me understand Your love. I need you to wash me clean. I desperately need your grace and mercy. I do not deserve these gifts but you have showered and lavished them on me anyway. You are so kind! Thank you!
Challenge: Just ponder the fact that God is your Abba, Father and that He has lavished His gifts on you. Walk through today thanking Him and praising Him for His goodness. The challenge may be today that you do not "feel" like doing this, or your circumstances may seem bleak. Thank Him anyway! Give Him a sacrifice of praise today! Remember a sacrifice is something that costs you!!
