Week 8 Day 50: A Father's Choice!

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1

Ponder:

How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. Ephesians 1: 3-6

How amazing that we have a Father, outside of our broken world, who chose us to be adopted into a family that is not a part of the brokenness of this world, but a part of a brand new kingdom, the kingdom of His Son Jesus. This is a lavish gift given to us purely because He loves us. He loves you. We are all a work in progress as we journey together in Christ.

Action: Ponder further about being a child of a perfect Father. This is sometimes hard to conceive due to the brokenness and possibly absence of our own fathers. Thank Abba, Your eternal Father, for hand picking you, adopting you, out of His love, to make You whole and holy. Ask yourself what difference this makes, or could make, to your everyday life? You may need to use your imagination...

For me, I imagine myself in a bubble of Abba's love and protection as I walk through the day, with all it brings. I sit in my chair, close my eyes and allow the world around me to disappear for a moment as I connect with my Abba.

Prayer: Thank you that you are a prefect Father! I thank you for bringing me into Your family! Help me connect with You today no matter what I am facing. Amen

Challenge: Memorizing Scripture is always very valuable. What about trying to memorize the first chapter of Ephesians or a verse or two? Identity and a Father's love is highlighted; two really important themes in our freedom journey.
