Week 7: Day 49: Future Focus
Updated: Mar 23
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1
Ponder: This week we move into a week of thinking about ourselves as children of God, no longer slaves to this world and our flesh. We are now able to ponder things of God and what He has for us as His children.
Listen to these words in Revelation chapter 22: 1-5 This is what God has for you:
Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.
No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him. And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.
Action: Today, even if it is difficult to imagine this future, an image that the apostle John was given on the Island of Patmos, when he was in a dark place humanly speaking, begin to praise God, thanking God that He has a place for you and that there is no more curse in the future. Trusting Him for His provision today as His child. Remember you do not have to "feel" happy or be in a good place to begin praising Him. We are fragrance of Christ as His children,
"Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life." 2 Corinthians 2:15
Lord, holy and worthy is your Name. I thank You that I have access to Your throne room as Your child. Hold me fast in You today as I continue this journey of freedom. I lift up my family to you, please reach them with Your grace, mercy and love. Help me to learn how to love them in You, freely as Your child in the way You would have me love them. I need You in every way today! Amen.
Challenge: Think of one way today where you can "stand firm" in Christ. I am going to choose to thank and praise Him for His provision throughout today, especially when my mood begins to shift, or I have any negative thought patterns. I will choose to rebuke the enemy in the Name of Jesus and remember Ephesians Chapter 6 and put the armor of God on as protection. This is a wonderful picture of clothing ourselves with Christ with the added strength of heavy duty battle clothing.
