Week 6 Day 41: Consistency: the Fourth "C"
Updated: Feb 18
"It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1
"So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free." John 8:36
You are free from slavery to having to obey your own flesh, your old master. You now have a brand new Lord, a Lord who desires for you to be free to live as His child, in a brand new way, a new kingdom.
Action: Think of three new habits you can put in your life to help you consistently live in Jesus. Begin small with manageable steps, as you grow in Jesus these habits will expand.
Reading His Word every day. Let it sink in as if a really good trusted friend is talking with you.
Sitting and praying for others. They need you.
Finding worship to listen to on You Tube and sit for 15 minutes and just praise Him.
Thanking Him every morning as you wake up.
Joining in Christian community like the men's prayer group, a Free! support group or a group at your church. They need you. You need them.
Pray with a friend. You may be helping them.
Ask Jesus what He wants you to know.
Go for a walk and thank Him for the nature around you.
Financially give to your church or another organisation. This helps you take your eyes off yourself.
Prayer: Lord, creating new habits are so difficult. Help me choose at least one new thing today that will help me draw closer to you. Let my feet not slip today, lead me not into temptation and please deliver me from evil. I praise and thank you Lord, for your great love and mercy. I so desire to live in freedom and not in my flesh. Let my desire be more for you than anything else. Amen.
Challenge: When you are feeling pulled to the dark side, to the old fleshly activities, cry out to our Lord and take hold of Him; choose to pray, call someone to pray with you, read His Word, take Him seriously. Yes, it is uncomfortable, it is not easy, you cannot see clearly. Ask God to pull you out of the mud into His Son. Trust Him. Thank Him. Praise Him. You might find out He is in the depths with You, that is how much He loves you.
Psalm 139: 7-12
I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.
I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.
