Week 5 Day 33: An Immovable Presence

"It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Ponder: There was a time in my life when I lived so close to Disneyland I did my daily walks there. In an off season moment I would even hop on a ride or two. There was one called the Indiana Jones and at a certain point a very large round boulder rolled towards you. This boulder did not feel very safe or secure. I see God, my Abba Father, as an immovable strong force of protection. I picture leaning in on Him if I begin to waver or totter. I run to Him in my very weak moments. He is the place of safety. I can't see Him and I can assure you it has taken a long time and plenty of tears to arrive at this place. I am sure there will be more moments of wobble before we are finished.

Ponder the following from Psalm 18:2 "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." ESV

Action:

Sit and ponder Psalm 18:2. Imagine Him as your security, your protection, that really reliable place that you long to have. Thank Him for being that place. Even if there is only a tiny bit of trust in you, grab hold of it and ask God to grow your faith to trust Him with everything.

Prayer:

Lord, Abba, I come to You and ask you to touch the places in me that find it so difficult to trust You. Please forgive me and grow my faith in You. I know I need to forgive my family for sometimes not being there. They were/are broken and did not do things perfectly. There is only one perfect sinless person; You.

Challenge:

It is very helpful to memorise a relevant verse. Proverbs 3: 5-6 is perfect for today. Every time you are triggered or tempted to wobble in your trust say this verse out loud to your soul. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."
