Week 2 Day 8: So Easy to be Pulled Back
"It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery". Galatians 5:1
Ponder: Sometimes life seems like a tug of war, just being pulled back and forth. It is sometimes so very difficult to "stand firm." Our last main session shared about the things that tug us back into using or acting out/thinking negatively again. We focused on the strength of relationships that provoke us and the lies we internalize, sometimes without realizing that they are lies. Today ponder these two verses in relation to lies and human relationships:
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." 3 John v.4.
"Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm." Proverbs 13:20
Action: Ask yourself the questions:
"Am I walking in the truth of what Jesus says about me?"
"Am I making wise choices in my friendships and the time I spend with other people?"
This could also be what or who you are listening to on social media, television etc.
Prayer: Lord, help with to discern truth from lies and learn to walk in the complete truth of You, Jesus. Lead me to Your truth, Your thoughts about me, not the lies I have internalized. Help me make wise choices in the company I keep, either in person or virtually. Amen
Challenge: Taking a lie you have believed about yourself; for example: "I am worthless, I might as well keep on sinning, nothing is going to change" changing it to the truth. "Lord forgive me for the lie I have been believing. You have chosen and rescued me (Ephesians 1) and therefore placed great value on my life. You are the great transformer (Romans 12:2) and have given me the power via Your death on the cross to not sin. Help me Lord Jesus live today in Your truth". Speak out these truths from God's Word throughout today, crying out for His help.
