Week 2 Day 14: So Easy to be Pulled Back

"It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery". Galatians 5:1

Ponder: This week we pondered about relapse; what pulls us back into our "yoke of slavery" whatever that might be. We began with the idea of a tug of war; holding on to the truth of what Jesus says about us (our true identity in Him) and making wise choices, especially about the company we keep. We moved on to contemplate choosing to live in this new identity, moving on to understanding in a deeper way the shelter, refuge and rest we can all have in God. He is our shelter, refuge and rest. Paul, the apostle practiced contentment, and how important it is for us to do the same. We ended the week, thinking about a peace, not as the world gives and love being an antidote to insecurity and fear.

Action: Take each of these concepts and sit with God, talk to Him about each one and ask Him to transform you into a person, who is utterly reliant of God and who is willing to put into practice what is necessary to live a life totally honouring to Him, your Abba Father. Maybe the action is simply sitting still long enough to listen to what God is whispering into your heart, mind and soul.

Prayer: Lord, still my soul, still my mind and emotions so I can hear Your still, small voice whispering into my life. Speak to me through your Word. Let me be conscious of Your presence throughout the day.

Challenge: A missionary, Frank Laubach, wanted to really live with God throughout the day, so he practiced lifting his thoughts to God at various times in the day until this became a habit. We have so many distractions and escapes that drag our thoughts away from God, let us grab some of the moments back for God and see what happens.
