"It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery". Galatians 5:1
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
We relapse and turn back to our means of comfort and release often when we are troubled, fearful and struggling. Boredom and wanting to escape come under the category of struggle. These both reflect an unsettled heart. In the verse above, it seems that peace, the peace of God is the antidote to a troubled heart and fear. If you know Jesus as your Saviour, His peace is available to you but often we do not know or understand how to tap into this peace. Why not create a new habit today; ask God every day, many times a day for the peace that only He can give you.
Lord, as Your child I come to You with my troubles, struggles and fears asking You to fill me with Your peace, not the world's peace but that which only You can give me.
When you recognise a thought of fear or trouble, challenge that thought with the truth, "I am a child of God and God tells me not to be afraid, He has promised to fill me with His peace. I do not have a spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7.
