Week 2 Day 10: So Easy to be Pulled Back
"It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery". Galatians 5:1
Ponder: Psalm 91: 1-4
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Action: To really know the freedom we have in Christ, to be able to "stand firm" against any kind of slavery, it is important to know God as your place of shelter, refuge and rest. It seems paradoxical to have a call to action that is "to rest." However, this is what God calls us to do; to rest from our own striving and trying to sort out things for ourselves, in our own way. Talk to God and ask Him to show you His ways and tell Him you are willing to be changed.
Prayer: Lord, I am willing to be transformed more and more into the likeness of Christ. Show me each day my part in this. Help me to "stand firm" in the disciplines of Bible reading and
talking to you throughout the day, and to pray for others. Grow me Lord Jesus, I need you.
Help me to see that it is about a relationship with you, not simply to acquire knowledge "to be better."
Challenge: Be willing to share with a good safe friend in Christ or one of the Free! groups something that you need prayer for. It may be something that you feel shame about. You want to walk in freedom and this really tells God that you are seriously wanting to change. Remember you have to put into practice the disciplines to change: Prayer, Bible and regular godly community. Tiny, daily, consistent steps.
