Week 10: Day 70 A Wobbly Edge
Updated: Mar 23
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let
yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1
Ponder: As we enter into this last week of the Free! program, we take a deeper look at temptation. Listen to Jesus's words in Matthew 26:41
“Watch and pray that you may not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” N.I.V.
I chose this picture because it conveys both falling into a hole but also the idea of being pulled in. This is so often what our triggers make us feel like. Once you leave the edge there is only one way to go...tumbling to the bottom. We feel that we have no choice, no power. A lie of Satan!! In Christ you have been given all the power and strength you need to live in the identity that He has given you. It may not "feel" like that but to "stand firm" it is important and, some would say vital, to stand on, and declare the truth. You will need help and a community to help you do this.
Action: Watch and Pray
Be aware of your triggers/ what is pulling you towards the edge!
Pray/cry out to God for His help.
Call a friend/trusted person.
Remember that you are a child of God, loved and chosen by the Father. You can now say, "I am dead to that!" Also, " I rebuke you, Satan, be gone in the Name of Jesus!"
Read the Scriptures: replace lies with truth.
Prayer: Lord, I thank you that I am Your child, chosen and loved by You. In You I can say no to the trigger/temptation. I am a new creation. The power of the old has gone, the new has come. Help me to live there today, Lord. Amen.
Challenge: Read Ephesians Chapter 6: 10-18 MSG
And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no weekend war that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.
Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
