Week 10 Day 68: Tired of your fears?
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let
yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1
Ponder: Fear can definitely enslave us. It can paralyze at times. It can most certainly be a debilitating obstacle in life. There is so much of "fear not" in the Scriptures. Our Lord understood the struggle we all have with fear. At the same time He wants us to trust Him so completely, that faith in Him overcomes fear. Our identity in Him is not one of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). We have an identity of power, love and a sound mind.
Listen in your heart to Psalm 34: 4: I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. N.L.T.
Action: Go to a quiet place, in your home or outside.
Talk to the Lord, give Him all your fears. Jesus did. "Take this cup from me" was His cry in the garden before His arrest and crucifixion, "not my will, but Your will." Luke 22:42.
He understands all our weaknesses, "Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin! So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help. Hebrews 4: 15-16 C.E.V
There is no fear that Jesus cannot handle, fear is a temptation and a trigger. Fear is not sin but it can tempt/trigger you into sin. It is another time you can say, "I am dead to that fearful thought, it is not part of my new identity in Christ! I have been delivered from all my fears. I will choose to trust You, Lord with...."
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to understand that You have not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. You have given me a way through fear, Yourself. Teach me to lean on You, to cling to You in my times of need.
I trust You with my fears for provision, for my family, of death itself, of health, of loneliness, of not being enough, .........(add your own here). I thank you that You are enough to meet all my needs in You. I choose not to walk in fear but to walk in You, talking with You when fears begin to lurk again.
Challenge: Something that you can begin to do is to ask God what He wants you to know, as you give Him your specific fears. Now, when God "speaks" it is not audible as we know it (although He is God and can do anything!). You might find yourself stopping at a particular word or phrase in the Scriptures. As you are praying a thought might come out through your prayer, even a picture/image. Sometimes it is through nature, seeing something peaceful/beautiful. Sometimes the same thought may come at you from many sources. Prior to writing one of these ponders on forgiveness, the same thought kept popping up; a book, a Scripture passage, a thought from a pastor on You Tube. I begin to pay attention if that happens. God bless you as you walk in Him today.
