Ponder, Action, Prayer, Challenge
Galatians 5:7-9; You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”
1. Who or what in your life drags you back to your addiction/life-controlling behaviour or thought patterns?
Think through what triggers your own addictive behaviour and it is helpful to write some of these thoughts down. For example: seeing your dealer, stressful work day etc. Be prepared to share in the group next week. Sharing is an important part of your journey towards freedom. It really does "take a load off" to know that you are not totally alone.
Pray both morning and evening:
Lord Jesus, help me to continue to allow my thoughts to be transformed by you. Please help me to take a good look at my life, and the people I meet regularly. Help me have the wisdom to choose good friends and not people who will drag me back into my former ways. In Christ’s name; AMEN.
Read the Key Verse Galatians 5: 7-9 everyday this week.
Pray the verse before the Lord, if you have sinned in any of the ways described, admit it, and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness. Then ponder Romans 8:1: There is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. What a wonderful truth to remind the believer of what he/she has in Christ and to draw the searcher towards the grace and mercy of God in Christ Jesus. Whoever you are, and whatever you have done, there is nothing beyond His grace and mercy.
